  • Quotes

    • (commenting on some of the songs they wrote for the first record, Your Favourite Weapon)
Jesse Lacey: It's really easy to write a pop song. I could've rewritten our first record a million times over, just changing chords around. What is hard is to write something that's influenced and different or more intriguing from everything else out there. In some respects, I think we could have done a lot better, but at the same time, I'm proud of it and glad so many kids connected with it.

    • (On Deja Entendu)
Jesse Lacey: I think lyrically I'd have to say that it's a little more sad and it's a lot more honest.

    • Jesse Lacey: If you are in a rock band, you get a free card to be a jerk and we do not want to be like that.

    • Jesse Lacey: There is this whole pattern of boys writing about how a girl hurt them or how much they'd do anything for a girl. It's like get over it! Everyone feels like that! You're not writing about anything special.
