Brooke Adams was born February 8, 1949, in New York City, New York, to parents who were both actors. She attended New York High School for the Performing Arts and the School of American Ballet in New York City. Her stage acting career began when she was six years old. However, she did not appear on TV until she was 16. As her career moved forward, she appeared in several movies including Days of Heaven, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Gas Food Lodging and Key Exchange. Adams married actor Tony Shalhoub in 1992, and the couple have two children together. Shalhoub and Adams met in 1988, while they were performing together in the Broadway production of The Heidi Chronicles. Through the years, the couple has continued to collaborate together in both on and off-Broadway productions. Adams temporarily removed herself from show business from 1995 to 2002, so she could concentrate on more important personal and family matters.
