Biography:

Burly, cleft-chinned actor who made his film debut along with Marilyn Monroe in 1949's Love Happy. Appeared in numerous TV productions during the 1950's playing mostly heavies although he did get a chance to play a heroic lead in the 1958 NBC series Behind Closed Doors. After that series was canceled, Gordon was cast in what would become his signature role, Frank "the Enforcer" Nitti on The Untouchables. Thereafter, Gordon would frequently be cast as mobsters although he often parodied his image on shows like Get Smart, The Lucy Show, and The Jackie Gleason Show. Gordon wound down his long career in the 1980's and now lives comfortably in retirement in Santa Fe, NM with his wife Marla.
