Bruno comes from a large family of six sisters and three brothers, who span the ages from 15-35. Bruno is third youngest at 21.

Although there isn't any actorly tradition in the family, they are very musical. Bruno's dad makes musical instruments, and three of Bruno's sisters (Gita, Emma, and Amy) are in a string quartet based in London called Dirty Pretty Strings, and they've starred in a music video for Fame Academy 2 winner Alex Parks. Gita, who is in Dirty Pretty Strings, also features as the violinist on The Streets' number one single Dry Your Eyes, as well as featuring on

… More their number one album A Grand Don't Come For Free. She also plays in the band of critically acclaimed singer/songwriter (and her boyfriend) Ed Harcourt, as well as playing with the Lost Prophets on Top of the Pops and making a central appearance in Blue's Fly By video!

Bruno's youngest sister, 15 year old Edith, is already in the studio recording some pop music, and Bruno is helping her out with writing the songs.

Bruno has two other sisters, called Dara and Lakshmi, three brothers, and a niece called Bluebell Wednesday (Bella for short).

Bruno himself is multi talented and, as well as being a damn good actor, he's a damn good singer too! He performed as Robbie Williams on a celebrity version of Stars in their Eyes in 2002, and he regularly performs at charity concerts in and around the Manchester area. He is also an accomplished pianist, and also played the ocarina flute with members of his family on a CD when he was 8 years old.

Bruno loves his music and is a massive fan of Jamie Cullum, Katie Melua, and Coldplay. He has also been quoted as saying
"I think the Cheeky Girls are brilliant"



Bruno's parents are both Australian, although he has never had the opportunity to visit Australia himself, which he says he is gutted about. He hopes to get over there one day though.

Bruno had a strong Manchester accent on Corrie and it came of a surprise to some people when they learnt that the accent was fake and he doesn't actually speak like that! When Bruno joined Corrie, he used to sit with Ryan Thomas, who plays Jason Grimshaw, and copy his accent for hours on end.

Although living in Manchester at the moment, he was actually born in Norfolk, where he lived until he was four years old. After that, he moved to Buxton in Derbyshire. He stayed here until the age of 16 when he moved to Stockport to attend drama school in nearby Heaton Chapel.

He actually hated drama at school because he thought it was too theoretical and he didn't like the teacher. He wasn't very academic whilst at school, although he did enjoy art, english, and music. His nickname at school was Frank, after the boxer Frank Bruno.

Bruno says that he has been acting as soon as he was born. He used to imitate stuff from the moment he could speak and learn accents and memorise stories and relay them back. He also did a number of plays whilst at primary and secondary school, and it wasn't long before he joined a local theatre group. He remembers the audition well as they put a chair in the middle of the room and told Bruno to do an improvisation about it. So he pretended to paint it.

It was his drama school teacher who introduced him to his agent and he had soon landed a part in a Sunny Delight commercial which, in turn, led to his one episode role in Corrie, and a slightly bigger part in Linda Green until, having impressed Corrie bosses (who say that Bruno reminds them of British actor turned Hollywood star Jude Law), he eventually landed the part of Todd Grimshaw.

Bruno admits that he was shocked when told that Todd was going to turn out to be gay He felt that it was going to be such a big change for the character and also for him as an actor and as a person too. Although he did have his doubts at first, as he was unsure about whether the storyline would be handled sensitively and whether he would be able to do the part justice, he's absolutely relished having such a major storyline to play. All good things come to an end, however, and after nearly four years of working towards the culmination of this storyline, Bruno felt that it was time to move on. He has now finished in Corrie, although rumours abound of a Corrie spin off centering around Todd's new life in London.

As for the future, Bruno has roles in the film League of Gentlemen: Apocalypse and the TV series Doctor Who. He says that he'd love to do more films, and also tread the boards in the theatre, and he also has ambitions to do a bit of travelling and "be 21"!

    I think Bruno is an amazing actor. He played Todd from Coronation Street just perfect. He's the kind of actor that you belive in, no matter who he playes you feel that he is going through those same kind amotions and i wish him every sucess for the future. Love ya Bruno

    Fantastic in Coronation Street. hide show

    Bruno played the sexually confused character Todd Grimshaw with great sensitivity. It was really sad to see him leave after his amazing portrayal of Todd. Viewers really felt for him when he kissed Nick Tilsley and Nurse Karl. However, the episode I will always remembver as being his best is when he buried his dead son. 'Goodnight Billy Grimshaw'
