    • Bubba was the Grand Marshal in Michigan's 1986 Homecoming parade. He was welcomed with cheers of "Tastes Great", "Less Filling" and "Kill Bubba Kill".

    • Michigan State University retired Bubba's #95 in 2006.

    • Reggie Berry began Goals For Life; which is a non-profit organization that focuses on children who are at-risk at school. Reggie cited that inspiration for this project came from a time Bubba Smith was talking to him about how alcohol was the number one cause of deaths among teens.

    • Bubba participated in the 12th Annual Steve Smith Charity Challenge golf game on June 28th, 2011.

    • Bubba was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He considered it the crowning jewel of his college career.
