Camilla Belle: When I started at nine months old I modelled in commercials but I stopped once I started doing films. Modelling has never been a career, it just kind of happened. Obviously it's fun and an honour to represent companies like Miu Miu and Vera Wang, but it's not a job. I'm not going to do something that isn't me.
Camilla Belle: (on being a former junior equestrian) I rode horses when I was young - I still have my ribbons at home - so I used to wear boots, jodphurs, all this stuff.
Camilla Belle: (on the type of movies she's interested in doing) Musicals, period pieces, romantic comedy - I'm open to anything.
Camilla Belle: (on finding a boyfriend) [I'm] not on a mad search for one because that's usually when it goes all wrong.
Camilla Belle: Hong Kong girls have a genius sense of style. I came back to the States thinking no one here has any individuality. Or cute enough socks.
Camilla Belle: (on comparing herself to her character Rose in 'The Ballad of Jack and Rose')...I really wish I could act like her, completely out of emotion. It seems nice. To not have to think of social boundaries.
Camilla Belle:(On Kim Basinger, who Camilla starred with in a print ad for Prada.) I never thought of Kim Basinger in terms of age. For me she embodies woman with her subtleties and intricacies. She's sensual and intellectually engaging, elegant with a very strong personal style.
Camilla Belle: (On her role in "10,000 B.C.")It was actually a really refreshing experience for me because usually in modern films you're getting your hair blown out every day, getting some nice makeup done, wardrobe. But it was actually really fun to get dirty every single day. I don't even know why, but it was just a different experience and everything different is fun.
Camilla Belle: (on fashion) When I was younger, I had no interest. But after I went to Paris to see the collections for the first time a few years ago, they made a huge impression on me. I realized that fashion is an art form, like acting or painting.
Camilla Belle: I think the first film I saw that made me become completely infatuated with her (Elizabeth Taylor) was National Velvet. And I still love that movie. It's just a really beautiful story of innocence that's lost.
Camilla Belle:(regarding the partying lifestyle of her peers like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, and how she avoids it herself)Whenever I hear about these girls, I just feel sad. It is unfortunate that people with such potential and talent can fall prey to a certain lifestyle, but then I always think, 'Where are/were their parents?' I fully credit my family for keeping me grounded and for putting me back in line whenever necessary. I am also very lucky to not have the type of personality of someone that enjoys going out-so I have never felt tempted.
Camilla Belle: I love acting and I feel really grateful that I've been successful at it. I didn't go into it because I wanted to be famous, or be photographed. I never set out to be noticed.
Camilla Belle: (Being asked what actor she would most like to star in a movie with) Someone like Joaquin Phoenix or Russell Crowe, really intense actors. I love them. There's really no brooding young man I'm dying to work with. I've worked with Daniel Day Lewis. I'd die to work with him again. He's my favorite. He always has been.
Camilla Belle: I'm not a dark person at all, so those roles are the most challenging. I don't think I'm necessarily drawn to dark things. It just seems to work out that way.
Camilla Belle: You don't have to work hard to bring emotions. It all just comes naturally, you're there living it.
