Carol Channing made her Broadway debut in 1941 and worked on stage fairly steadily throughout the next three decades. Her most famous roles on stage are Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly!. Carol has performed in nightclubs and appeared on television and movies. Her distinctive voice has been used many times in television and feature-length movies. As of 2010, Carol, at age 87, speaks and performs across the country, especially in California, where she and her husband champion the cause of keeping the arts in California public schools.
