When Mary Higgins Clark first wrote The Lottery Winner, she planned Alvirah Meehan to die. However, at Carol's urging, she changed her plans and let Alvirah live. As a result, Alvirah Meehan is one of Mary's most loved characters, and returns frequently for novels written by both Mary and Carol.

Carol's favorite parts about writing is hearing from the fans. She loves doing book signings, meeting the fans, and hearing feedback about the characters.

Carol bases her Regan Riley books on her family. Regan describes Carol, Nora describes Mary, and Luke describes Carol's father. Another similarity is that they are of Ireland origin.

According to Carol, her mother's second book, A Stranger is Watching influenced her towards a career in writing.

Carol used her grandmother, Nora Higgins, as a model for two characters in her books. The first was Lady Veronica Exner in Decked and the second was Lucretia Standish in Jinxed.

Carol rode in a hot air balloon as research for Popped. She enjoyed every minute of the ride.

Carol enjoyed reading the Nancy Drew series as kid. Some readers even go as far as saying Regan Reilly is the grownup version of Nancy Drew.

Carol's favorite book is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.

Carol's favorite book as a kindergartener was The Little Red Lighthouse. Carol and Mary even used that book as a clue for their book, Deck the Halls.

A Stranger is Watching by Mary Higgins Clark inspired Carol to become a writer because it was the first book Carol typed and it familiarized her with the process of what it takes to write a book and how to tell the tale.
