In 1991, Lee-Johnson received rave reviews for her performance as Lady Macbeth at the New York International Festival of the Arts. This modern interpretation of Macbeth was set in 20th century Africa as opposed to 11th century Scotland.
Lee-Johnson: I'm steering clear of men for a while. Men need to be needed and I'm not very good at that. I'm not good at buttering them up. There don't seem to be many strong men around and I'd want a relationship to be equal, where we both support each other.
