  • Quotes

    • Carrie: Every movie has its own set of challenges. Every movie is different. But regardless of genre, a movie is a joy to make. I'm open to beautiful stories.

    • Carrie: Where it gets clear for me about the privacy issue is with my kids because they didn't choose this kind of life. I'm an incredibly open person, though -- I'll tell anyone anything. My husband jokes that I'll invite people over for dinner and he won't know who they are or where I met them. But in my work world, I've never really been tempted to tell too much of my story.

    • Carrie: (on being a part of the "Matrix" trilogy) I feel really grateful and really honoured to be part of it. It's like a segment of a life is ending. It's like saying goodbye to a part of my life, and I really want to celebrate that.

    • Carrie: I don't have issues with playing moms. When a role is well-written, whatever it is, it's just about playing the truth of the character. I always wanted to be a mother. I love it.

    • Carrie: After The Matrix, I cannot wear sunglasses. As soon as I put them on, people recognize me.

    • Carrie: I don't really look at work from a nationalist viewpoint. If there's great work anywhere, you want to be a part of it. And good work happens all around the globe - but that doesn't mean I'm not proud to be Canadian. I'm really proud to be Canadian.

    • Carrie: I shoplifted. I was about five years old, and I took a candy from a store. We paid for three of them, but I took four, and I went home and cried. My mom took me back, and I paid for the missing piece.

    • Carrie: I never think of myself as a pioneer, because I look at people like Sigourney Weaver.

    • Carrie: I'm definitely not a big fan of that part of the work. I'm such a private person, and sexuality is such a private thing. A sex scene is much harder than a fight scene. It's one thing to say, 'Kick higher,' but 'Kiss harder' -- that's just crazy.

    • Carrie: (on having a superhero power) I would have the power to make everybody happy and at peace and love each other. *Pssh* It worked!

    • Carrie: I really don't have any kind of strategy for my career. I don't believe in strategy in this business. I just don't believe in it. It would make me crazy to think that I could somehow be in the right movie or do the right thing.

    • Carrie: I believe anything is possible. I don't believe the world is black or white. I think there's so much going on that we don't have any clue about it. I choose to believe that and I don't need scientific data to believe something.
