    • (on choosing her daughter's name)
Catherine: My husband and I were in Italy when we were trying to get pregnant and fell in love with the country. When we looked through name books, we focused on the Italian section. We found Gemma, which is unusual, Italian, and strong.
    • Catherine: I had a great mom so I wanted to be one, too, but I wasn't mentally or emotionally ready until I was in my 30s. I had a career I was working hard to establish, and I needed to feel on firm ground there first.
    • Catherine: Right now, I'm taking thyme, oregano, and grapefruit seed oil drops mixed together in a glass of juice. According to my nutritionist, the combination of those herbs eliminates extremely resistant strains of bacteria in your system that antibiotics can't destroy.
    • (about wakeboarding)
Catherine: It's hard to get myself to workout, but [wakeboarding] is so much fun I don't mind. [Plus] it works every muscle in your body: your lats, your arms, you butt, all the way down. You're pulling against a 3,000-pound boat. Guys think it's cool that I can do it. I get close to them, spray their boats and show off a little.
    • Catherine: I was a tomboy...still am - I love cars, motorcycles, extreme sports.

    • Catherine: I love to paint - though my favorite kind of painting these days is with my daughter on her little plastic easel.

    • Catherine: I want to learn to fly helicopters and planes one day!

    • (Describing her overnight fame in "JAG") Catherine: ... as this huge, life-changing moment... going from zero to 90 in two seconds!
