Catherine Zeta Jones

Catherine: I have to drag myself down to the gym, like everyone else. But when I finish, i can eat more sandwiches.

Catherine: (on the relationship between husband Michael and son Dylan) He [Michael] makes excellent pancakes and he's pretty good at waffles. We were trying to explain to Dylan that we made movies and he went, 'Hang on a minute! Mom makes movies, you make pancakes!' So my two-time Oscar-winning husband who has a career of 40 years looks at me and says, 'Oh! It's come to that!'

Catherine: At night, before I go to bed, I check on the kids to make sure they're still breathing. But that's easy because my kids snore. We all snore. We're like an orchestra.

Catherine: (on getting too old to do sex scenes) I think it's a natural progression. I'm 38 years old and I'm going to play more moms than sex symbols. That's a gradual thing for me because I'm too old to play younger characters.

Catherine: I carry a lot of jewelery with me, but I often get worried something is going to happen. My mother-in-law says that a woman should never put something on you can't afford to lose.

Catherine: (revealing her perceived self-confidence is an act) I'm more insecure than I ever let anyone know. Sometimes you protect yourself with this kind of armour that people see more than they see you.

Catherine: In Wales it's brilliant. I go to the pub and see everybody who I went to school with. And everybody goes "So what you doing now?" And I go, "Oh, I'm doing a film with Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins." And they go, "Ooh, good." And that's it.

Catherine: No one's more feminist than me, but you can still be smart, bright, and attractive.

Catherine: I came out of the womb wearing make-up!

Catherine: (On life as a movie star) People do everything for me, and I've forgotten how.

Catherine: I used to go around looking as frumpy as possible because it was inconceivable you could be attractive as well as be smart. It wasn't until I started being myself, the way I like to turn out to meet people, that I started to get any work.

Catherine: I like women who look like women. I hated grunge. No one's more feminist than me, but you don't have to look as if you don't give a - you know. You can be smart, bright, and attractive aesthetically to others - and to yourself.

Catherine: After Zorro, people spoke Spanish to me for ages. I'm Welsh, but that movie instantly gave me a new ethnicity.

Catherine: For marriage to be a success, every woman and every man should have her and his own bathroom. The end.

Catherine Zeta Jones: Words impress me. If a man can speak eloquently and beautifully to me, I just melt on the floor.
