Celeste Holm is American actress born on April 20, 1917. in New York City. She was born and raised in the city and grew up as an only child. Her mother was an American portrait artist, and her father was a Norwegian businessman. As a child, she traveled all over the world, due to her parent's jobs and was introduced to many different cultures and schools. She attended schools around the world and performed in plays in each of them. As she grew older, she moved to Hollywood and was signed to Century Fox in 1946. The following year, she appeared in the movie Gentleman's Agreement and won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her performance. Her career continued to skyrocket, and she became very specific in which roles she accepted. This specificity proved to be a good idea, because the rest of her film career was filled with hit performances and award winning roles. Despite health ailments, in 2011, Holm completed the comedy feature film, College Debts.
