A Washington D. C. native who received his BA Degree from Morehouse College. Charles has numerous theatre, television and film credits which include the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway play, James Baldwin: A Soul on Fire by the late playwright, Howard B. Simon (Five New York AUDELCO Award Nominations). David DeWitt of the New York Times declares, " A Soul on Fire is funny, thrilling and wise buoyed with the passionate performance of Charles Reese in the title role. Reese has a vehicle worthy of his performance." Additional theatre credits include: Myla Churchill's,The Griot Trio (Aaron Davis Hall), A.D. Williams' Tennessee Waltz (Circle East @ Here Theatre) In Dahomey with Opera Singer Shirley Verrett (New Federal Theatre); TV credits: Law and Order, Between The Lions (PBS), The Chris Rock Show, In The Heat of The Night, Grapevine (CBS); Film credits: On the Low (Torchlight Media), Sippie (American Film Institute),Legal Deceit, Escape for Heaven and Ruby Dreams. Charles has worked for two major studios in Los Angeles (Lorimar Pictures and Warner Brother Studios) as a Music License Coordinator. He is the Founder/Executive Director of HB Simon Productions(dedicated to promoting, developing and producing the work for the literary canon of Howard B. Simon) . Charles is a two-time recipient of the Brooklyn Arts Council Grant Award for developing and curating,The Making of Howard Simon's, JAMES BALDWIN: A SOUL ON FIRE, A Visual Installation. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at Marymount Manhattan College/Roosevelt Beacon Program. In addition, he has been guest artist at Hobart and William Smith College (Geneva, NY). He served on the Screen Actors Guild Nominating Committee for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. He received the Black Man of Distinction Award from State Senator Marty Markowitz (now Brooklyn's Borough President). He is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild. Charles served three years as a Program Consultant and Curator for the American Museum of Natural History (New York) ,where he programed the museum's annual Kwanzaa and Black History Month Series. Currently, Charles serves as the principal/founder of Teeth and Eyes Communications Inc., an entrepreneurial business venture in which a career's worth of professional experience and expertise have been combined to offer high-quality consulting in development and curation of innovative cultural/theatrical programs for museums, colleges, theatre venues, individual artists and community-based organizations. Current clients/collaborations include: California African American Museum, Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival, Artist for a New South Africa, South African Consulate General, Los Angeles, Brooklyn Juneteenth Celebration, and Opera Noir. Charles currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
