  • Quotes

    • Cher: (on her upcoming Las Vegas performances) It is going to be a visually unbelievable show with brilliant choreography. Our set moves down from the ceiling, in from the sides, up from the floor. We have screens in the foreground, the center and the back. You'll see a different stage for every song.

    • Cher: I really don't think of myself as a singer. I think of myself as an entertainer, and the best place I do it is onstage.

    • Cher: I know it sounds weird, but how bad, how hard can dying be? I figure it's all right because he's [Sonny's] done it, and if he can do it, I can do it. I just feel a little less anxious, a bit more comforted about being dead.

    • Cher: I hate my fifties. They suck. I never felt older until I hit 50. And the way I first noticed was through my work. When I was 40, I was playing opposite somebody who was 21, and nobody noticed. But at 45, as you start to look older, all you can do is look good for your age. There's a certain span of time - and I'm very much there - when you have to wait till you can play the Shirley MacLaine/Anne Bancroft roles. So what am I supposed to do? Like, go camping for I0 years?

    • Cher: After Sonny and I separated, I got my first tattoo. I thought it would be something different, a statement of freedom. 'Good' girls didn't get tattoos then, no one was doing it.

    • Cher: Sonny was the first person who died that I was really close to, so for me, it was traumatic on a number of levels. It was so hard to really just think of him as not there. Someone to just die. And he wasn't sick, so it wasn't like I was ready for it.

    • Cher: My mother was the most creative, fantastic person and would come up with great things for us to do. She'd buy art supplies and all of us would sit around painting. I was lucky. But then she would be really depressed and have a hard time coming out of her room. See, when you are young, it all seems normal.

    • Cher: I talk a lot to homeless people, and I find them to be very interesting-when they don't flip out on you, which happens too. I found the most interesting conversations I've ever had were talking to people who have absolutely nothing-nothing to lose, nothing to gain. They're like children that way, they can just tell the truth.

    • Cher: I am never offended when I see the drag-queens dressed up like me. The only problem that I have ever come across, is that some of them are a little too good at it, and I wind up asking them how they did their eyes, or hair.

    • Cher: When Son died, I felt as if I had the wind knocked out of me, and it took a Hell of a long time to breathe in again. It was such a freak accident, no warning. I lost a huge part of Cher the day that Sonny died.

    • Cher: Elijah and I are similar in the romance department. I enjoy the company of younger men, and he prefers the company of an older woman. Maybe they are right, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

    • Cher: I was a bit shocked when Chastity came to me and revealed that her preference in a romantic relationship was for women. Then as I processed...I began to see that it was all right there in front of me, I am very proud of my daughter, and all of her choices.

and entertaining! Her voice can grow to be deep, but not overbearing. I enjoy her songs.
  • I never cared for her as an actress personally, and never cared for her personality either.

The one movie she was good in was Mask, in the 80's with that kid with the mask face. That was actually a good movie and she was good in it. That might be the only thing in her career I can say I liked though. I don't know how to say this politely so I don't get reported but I would rather still have Sunny Bono on this planet than Cher. I know mot of their deal was an act, but man she was annoying. She is also another actress that uses her celebrity to tell people how to think about such issues like politics and Religion, which really should be up to people to decide for themselves individually.moreless
