  • Quotes

    • Chord: I would love to do a country song on Glee. We get an episode at a time, so as far as the storyline goes I don't know if it will happen. But hopefully. That would be fun.

    • Chord: (On his hair) It's naturally dirty blonde. So it's highlights. I had it down to my chin in this beginning of this year, and then I had them cut it from eight inches long to two inches long. I wanted to go brown and the lady made it black, so they basically had to bleach it to get the black out. It's really damaged it.

    • Chord: I played football, baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, gymnastics, foosball and even croquet when I was growing up.

    • Chord: (On auditing for Glee) I really didn't have a clue at all when I auditioned, and they hadn't written anything for the character yet. I read the sides for the pilot as Finn. Maybe [based on] the take I had on my audition they were like, well, this will work for the character, and on top of it they knew I could sing. Or maybe they just needed a new kid who's really awkward and makes bad jokes. Once they cast me, they kind of wrote it for me basically.

    • Chord: (on starting in Glee) I was a little nervous to see how everybody would react to me as the new kid. I think my character is definitely worried about what people think and worrying about wanting to be cool and wanting to be popular and he definitely wants to be the cool, new kid. I think he's really about that going in because before he started going to the school he colored his hair. He did something different so maybe he would seem like a cool kid. I think my character has little insecurities that are beneath the surface.

    • Chord: (about his father's career) My dad's been doing it. That's all he's done for the last 30 years. That's what he does for a living. And I grew up surrounded by it. And it was always something that I did, I just never did it in front of anybody. I had knee surgery from football and had to sit on my couch for a few months. I couldn't really do anything. And my dad was like "Hey, start writing." So I started writing and I could play guitar after that. So one thing lead to another.

    • Chord: (On who he'd like to duet with on Glee ) I would love to do a duet with Amber Riley because she's so amazing. She's a great vocalist. But I would also not like to do a duet with her because she would blow me out of the water [laughs]. She is awesome, she's got some pipes on her. I would love to do a duet with Lea, also. She's great, super talented girl.

    • Chord: (On what he would like to sing on Glee ) I would like to sing John Mayer's "My Stupid Mouth" because I think it's funny and hilarious because it's a fun and cool song. It's always been one of my favorite songs. That, and maybe like "SexyBack." I think it would be fun. Everybody could get a good laugh at me dancing.

    • Chord: (On the rumors that his character on Glee was gay) I think originally Ryan wanted to bring in a character that was on a football team who was gay....But then I think what happened was when they saw some of the stuff I had been shooting with Diane and saw that they [the characters] had great chemistry, I think that kind of changed.

    • Chord: (On how he landed his role on Glee) I was actually auditioning to be Sue's (Jane Lynch's) stand-in-because we have the same color hair. I'm kidding. I auditioned for my part. I got a call from my agent one day and he asked if I could do an audition for Glee in like 30 minutes. So I grabbed my guitar and ran over there. There were so many people in the casting office they weren't even having anyone read the sides, they were just having people play a song. So I played one, and they asked me to come back and talk to the casting agent. Then I played again. Then they asked me to walk out and "discreetely" get my sides, and come back and read. I was there for, like, five hours. Then I went home and they called and asked me to come back and sing two songs a capella. And then I sang two songs for the studio test and two for the network test. This was like at 9:30 at night. A week later I found out I got the part.

    • Chord: I got my first instrument at Christmas when I was three or four. My dad and mom got me a mandolin. It was the only instrument that fit me because I was so small. I went straight from that into drums when I was six and then started playing guitar when I was seven or eight

    • Chord: My real name is Chord Overstreet. I actually got my name because my dad is in the music business as a songwriter. I was the third one in my family born, and there are three notes in a chord, so that's how they came up with my name.

    • Chord Overstreet: (on covering songs on Glee) I would love to cover Michael Jackson, too. I want to do at least one Michael Jackson song. I like 'Beat It' a lot.

    • Chord Overstreet: (hinting romance for his character on Glee) There are lots of single characters on the show, so who knows?

    • Chord Overstreet: (on his role in Glee) I join the glee club and also the football team. I start off as Finn's friend, [but] by the end, I slowly become more of his competition [and] give him a run for his money.
