Born in Dallas, Texas, Christian and his family moved around the Southwest before settling in Norman, Oklahoma. While attending the University of Oklahoma and studying Art History, Christian decided he would rather be an actor and left for Los Angeles without completing his degree.
In 1997, Christian landed his first acting role on the TV series Fame L.A. His breakout year, however, was 1999; it was then that he landed the role of Wolfram & Hart lawyer Lindsey McDonald on the series Angel. He became a recurring character, appearing in three of the five seasons of the show.
Since then, Christian has appeared in various movies and TV shows, including Taxi (2004), Into the West (2005), Close to Home (2005-2006), and Death Walks the Streets (2009). His most recent role on television was that of Eliot Spencer on the TNT drama Leverage, which debuted in December of 2008 and is slated to return for a second season during the summer of 2009.
Christian is also the lead singer of the southern rock band Kane, which has been described as "a mix of country, rock and rockabilly". Formed in 1998 by Christian and friend Steve Carlson, Kane has toured in the United States, Britain, and Germany, and is signed to a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing Nashville where they are working to release their third album.
Their first two albums were self-released, the first being their eponymous (self-titled) debut and the second being a live concert recorded in London. News and merchandise can be found on their official website and MySpace page.
