Chuck Hicks was born Dec 26, 1927 in Stockton, California, but grew up in the Los Angeles area. After being a star running back at Burbank High School, Chuck joined the Merchant Marines and then went into the United States Navy, where he was the Fleet Heavyweight Boxing Champion. When he left the service, he attended Loyola University, where he played football and was also the university's Heavyweight Boxing Champ.
After leaving Loyola, Chuck played semi-pro football for seven years with the Eagle Rock Athletic Club while also boxing professionally under the name Chuck Daley.
… More In 1951 he was hired to play a football player in She's Working Her Way Through College with Virginia Mayo and Ronald Reagan. His first serious stunt-double work followed, taking a pounding for Clint Walker in Cheyanne (1955). In 1959, after being signed by Lucille Ball for Desilu Productions, he appeared as Kane, one of television's original Untouchables.
In his 55 years in show business, Chuck has almost 250 credits as an actor and a stuntman - including appearances in Cool Hand Luke, Hard Times, Star Trek, The Rockford Files and Dick Tracy. Chuck, the longtime stunt double for Brian Dennehy, is a former President, Board Member and Charter Member of the Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures.
