On February 6th, 2007, Colin was nominated for a JUNO Award for his album Colin James & the Little Big Band III in the category of "Blues Album of the Year." On April 1st, 2007, Colin appeared at the JUNO Awards as a presenter for "Best Single of the Year"; however, he did not win in the category in which he was nominated.
On March 29th, 2006, Colin James starred in the opening episode of the Kraft Hockeyville series on CBC. Hockeyville was a contest to see which Canadian community had the best hockey spirit.
On April 8, 2006, Colin participated in a fundraiser to benefit both the National Arts Centre (in Ottawa) and the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. The benefit raised $80,000 for the two causes.
(on why he doesn't play his older hits in concerts)Colin: I'm not relying on old hits and going through the motions. I think the new records are better than the first two ones. I'm not sentimental about them anymore. I don't want to sound ungrateful -- God knows it's hard enough to get a song to stick, so you're happy about it -- but you want to move on.
(in 2006)Colin: Over the last four records, I've tried to write as much as I can. It's only recently that I've really been able to enjoy writing. Back in the old days, I hated it. I wasn't doing it because I wanted to; I was doing it for contractual obligations. I had to have eight out of 10 songs on a CD.
