Conal is Senior Director at All My Children. He grew up in Haworth, New Jersey and is one of ten children. Both his parents are actors. His father is respected character actor, Vince O'Brien whose film credits include Annie Hall, The Hoodlum Priest, and Quiz Show and has made numerous appearances on Law and Order. Conal is an expert in stage combat, having trained for many years with BH Barry. Conal began acting when he was nine years old, and at 14 was an apprentice at the Surflight Theatre on Long Beach Island, NJ. For four years, under the direction of Joe Hayes, he acted, stage managed, directed and wrote plays there. Conal is a graduate of the Carnegie -Mellon Drama department.

In the late 1980's he was invited to become the Fight Director for All My Children. This marked the beginning of his television directing apprenticeship with legendary senior director Henry Kaplan.

Conal has produced and directed the short film The Secret, which won awards at the Montreal Film Festival, Columbus Film Festival, and was purchased by Bravo Network and aired for three years in cycles. Quiet, a short film he produced, aired on the Sundance Channel.
