    • Damian Lewis: (On playing multiple characters in "Dreamcatcher") It was quite tricky but it was fun to do. It's good to be busy on a film set because there is a lot of sitting around, so if you've got two roles to play at one time, then that's great to do.
    • Damian Lewis: (on the appeal of horror movies to audiences) I think people like to be scared. I think people like tension and suspense in a movie. I think, also, the best horror movies are a metaphor for whatever is going on in the world at any one time; there's an obvious metaphor for right now. And also for one's personal and individual paranoias and neuroses, it really explores all those things.
    • Damian Lewis: You can't do something that is morally vacuous or dysfunctional and then write it off saying, 'It wasn't my film, I was just doing a job in it'.
    • Damian Lewis: We come from quite a loud, garrulous, curious, challenging family. At Sunday lunches the volume levels were cranked right up. If you didn't get your point out, saying it loudly, quickly and succinctly, you didn't get it in, so there was a lot of confidence bred from that.
    • Damian Lewis: There's something important, as an actor, about allowing yourself to be approached by people to do roles. People see different things in you.
    • Damian Lewis: (On his contrasting roles in "The Forsyte Saga" and "The Escapist") If it surprises people, then I'm delighted because in art - I've just likened my acting to art so I have to be very careful - you have to challenge. The big bugbear for an actor is typecasting, but I think I have managed to avoid that.
    • Damian Lewis: I think Helen (wife) is the best actress of her generation, but I'm biased. She's got a very rare ability to play leading women as total character parts.
    • Damian Lewis: Being a detective solving the crime each week for me is about as cool as it gets. Apart from being Clint Eastwood.
    • Damian Lewis: I used to take my shoes off to cross the street so I'd look like Paul [McCartney] on the record.
    • Damian Lewis: If one of your fantasies is lying on a bed in Hollywood, surrounded by eight naked women, then another is to have a beautiful wife and a nice rambling house in London with three kids running around... perhaps it's good to have a bit of tension in your fantasy life.
    • Damian Lewis: (On attending Eton College) I used to keep my school very quiet because I thought it was damaging. I think you can't be really posh and be an interesting actor. I'm a bit of a posh rough.
