Dunk legend Darryl Dawkins was an American professional basketball player, most noted for his days with the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers (1975-1982) and New Jersey Nets (1982-1987). Later in his career his played briefly for the Detroit Pistons (1987-1989) and Utah Jazz (1987). He was nicknamed 'Chocolate Thunder' by Stevie Wonder. After he retired from the NBA in 1989 he continued playing basketball for another decade playing in Italy for two years before landing with the Harlem Globetrotters. He also spent time with the Continental Basketball Association and International Basketball Association before he retired in 2000.
