Biography

Composer Dennis McCarthy began his musical career as an arranger and conductor for Glen Campbell. He also did orchestrations for the film Wise Blood by Alex North. His break in television music came with Enos, a spin off of The Dukes Of Hazzard. The series was short lived and the musician's strike of 1981 sent him briefly back to variety television.

What began as a temporary solution to the strike became a hit series, The Barbara Mandrell Show, for which he was musical director for three seasons. After the strike ended, Dennis scored a wide variety of episodic TV series and several movies for television, one of the most challenging being the six-hour mini-seriesV: The Final Battle, followed by the weekly TV series V.

Other series included episodes of The New Twilight Zone, Dynasty, MacGyver, and Houston Knights. It was his work on V and The Twilight Zone which got the attention of the producers of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was then asked to join the scoring team for the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, and the feature film Star Trek Generations.

McCarthy continues to score for various movies of the week and feature films.

He resides in Burbank with his wife, Patti.
