I miss this man alot, he was very talented, especially narrating the less-known show, Theodore Tugboat. And he was the only narrator. I always dreamed of going to meet him someday, but now he is the 3rd Mama's and Papa's member dead and I wasn`t able to to get to meet really good stars I like, there was George Carlin, Fred Rogers, David Mitton, and now Denny Doherty? I will miss them all, I sure wish I was at his funeral, and if the rest of the band was alive, I would hope they would have played a song in dedication to him! I hope I can meet him in heaven someday!!!
I have written a blog entry, "Dedicated to... Dennis Doherty", at http://roseteaparty1959.spaces.live.com to honour of this fine Canadian musician and performer.
It features YouTube.com links to videos of three of the Mama and the Papa's most memorable songs, California Dreaming, Monday, Monday,
and This is Dedicated to the One I love.
Each song features wonderful male/female four-part harmony, and Doherty sings solos in California Dreaming and Monday, Monday.
There was life for Denny ofter the Mamas and the Papas.
He had a rich career in Canada in television and the performing arts.
He recently co-wrote and starred in the production of
Dream a Little Dream of Me, his recounting of the heyday of the band.
