Dick's kids, Elliot and Olivia, served as the namesakes for the two lead characters of his drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit; Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson.
Dick has three children: Olivia, Sarina and Elliot.
Dick is close friends with novelist James Ellroy. One of Ellroy's friends, Bill Stoner, a detective with the LAPD, was asked by Wolf to be a technical advisor on Dragnet.
