Sean was given the key to Chicago on October 13, 2006.

Sean is a football fan and arranged time to meet the Manchester United F.C. team in Copenhagen prior to MTV European Music Awards. Sean follows Arsenal F.C.

On December 21, 2006, Sean's partner Kim Porter (who also has a son with Al B Sure), delivered twin girls, one at 7:56 am weighing 5lbs and the other at 7:58am weighing 5lbs 4oz. Their names are D'Lila Star and Jessie James Combs. Diddy announced the birth on his myspace page. The couple have a son, Christian, 9. Sean also has another son, Justin, 13, from his previous relationship with stylist Misa Hylton-Brim.

Sean owns two upscale restaurants called "Justin's" (named after his son) with locations in New York and in Atlanta.

In February 2007 it was revealed that Sean was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly attacking a man, Gerard Rechnitzer, at a party following the 2007 Oscars. A witness reported seeing Sean chat up the man's fiancé for five minutes and invite her to a party. The man interrupted and asked his fiancé to leave with him, prompting Sean to punch the man in the jaw. Police are still investigating the incident.

In January 2007, Sean arrived at a Globes after-party hosted by Creative Artists Agency in LA and was told his name was not on the guest list. According to witnesses, he became verbally abusive and started yelling at security.

Sean was asked by Mary J. Blige along with Mariah Carey to apprar in her No More Drama video because she felt that they both had their fair share of drama in their lives.

In December 2006, Sean's range of jackets were banned from Macey's department store, following reports they were allegedly made from dog fur. The 'Sean John hooded coats' were advertised as featuring "faux fur". The Humane Society said: "Sometimes the fur comes from China where dogs, cats and raccoon dogs are killed in gruesome ways". Sean, who owns the Sean John label, said: "I was unaware of the nature of this material. As soon as we were alerted, the garments were pulled off Macy's floor and website."

Sean and Kim Porter named their twin girls after their grandmothers. Kim's grandmother's name is Lila Star, while Sean's grandmother's name was Jessie Smalls. The twins have been named as follows: D'Lila Star Combs: 5 lbs….19 1/4 inches and Jessie James Combs: 5 lbs/4 oz….19 1/2 inches.

Sean is one of the very few artists to own a house on the prestigious Star Island in Miami.

Sean was considered for a role in the movie Any Given Sunday (1999) but turned it down. The part then went to Jamie Foxx.

Sean recorded a track entitled Missing You, which was a sample of Sting's Every Breath You Take, in memorial for Biggie Smalls. The track surprisingly went platinum, bringing in 3 million dollars for that one track. Sean generously gave the 3 million dollars that Missing You made to the family of The Notorious BIG.

Sean shares the same birthday as actor Matthew McConaughey.

Sean attended Mount Saint Michael High School in the Bronx and graduated in 1987. He then attended the prestigious black college Howard University and majored in Business.
