In February 2007 it was revealed that Sean was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department for allegedly attacking a man, Gerard Rechnitzer, at a party following the 2007 Oscars. A witness reported seeing Sean chat up the man's fiancé for five minutes and invite her to a party. The man interrupted and asked his fiancé to leave with him, prompting Sean to punch the man in the jaw. Police are still investigating the incident.

In December 2006, Sean's range of jackets were banned from Macey's department store, following reports they were allegedly made from dog fur. The 'Sean John hooded coats' were advertised as featuring "faux fur". The Humane Society said: "Sometimes the fur comes from China where dogs, cats and raccoon dogs are killed in gruesome ways". Sean, who owns the Sean John label, said: "I was unaware of the nature of this material. As soon as we were alerted, the garments were pulled off Macy's floor and website."

Kim's grandmother's name is Lila Star, while Sean's grandmother's name was Jessie Smalls. The twins have been named as follows: D'Lila Star Combs: 5 lbs….19 1/4 inches and Jessie James Combs: 5 lbs/4 oz….19 1/2 inches.
