Shadow was featured and interviewed in the 2001 Documentary film, Scratch, which is about past and present Hip-Hop DJs, scratching and the turntablism culture.
Shadow created and founded the independent Hip-Hop record label Quannum Projects, also known as Quannum MCs in 1992, which is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
DJ Shadow collaborated with fellow Hip-Hop DJ Cut Chemist to create two popular mixtapes entitled Brainfreeze and Product Placement, which both mixes fuse jazz with funk and soul music.
In 2006, Shadow signed a deal with Universal Records. Before, he was also once signed with the UK-based label Mo'Wax and the Northern California underground hip hop record label Solesides.
Shadow began his music career as a DJ on the radio station KDVS in Davis, California.
His first full-length album, Endtroducing....., was released on November 19, 1996 to unanimous worldwide critical acclaim. Endtroducing..... has been cited in the Guinness Book of World Records for the "First Completely Sampled Album" in 2001.
