While argueing on the driveway outside, Sweeney suddenly grabbed Dominique by her neck and strangled her for several minutes, and left her in a braindead coma. After nearly five days in hospital, Dominique's parents signed her off the life-support systems and Dominique died instantly on November 4. From the first moment America saw her awaken slowly and irritated by a younger sister, whom was speaking to ghosts, Americans never forgot this truely awsome, and extremely talented woman. hide show

From the first moment I saw the film "Poltergeist", I never forgot the everlasting impression I had when I watched Dominique Dunne for the first time. Her role in the Spielberg horror classic was, as some say, underdeveloped, but through it all, this amazing actress brought us more than could've been expected from the standards by which the role was written. Dominique Dunne was a force of talent in the entertainment business. She was a hard worker, and a perfect example of what it means to be dedicated to such a craft as performing. She was easily the next coming, so to say. In the few things she filmed, she drew us in, made us like her character. The more we loved her roles, the more we loved her. Her first appearance was in "Diary Of a Teenage Hitchhiker". Her role, Cathy, was the first character to exit the story, but Dunne was powerful in presence as she held her own with such a first experience. Later, she turned in credible performances in numerous television films and series. Finally, her hard work payed off in the major motion picture we fans know her for the most. She was working on "V" when she was taken away from her family, friends, and all the many fans she had. Even so, she has been remembered more favorably than ever. She is a real light in history that will never dim.
