Don studied acting at Loyola Marymount University and filmmaking at the Hollywood Film Institute, Los Angeles Valley College and Los Angeles City College.
Don wrote, directed, and produced his first short film Naomi's Web for $500 in 1999. The film impressed a local distributor that it was picked up for distribution nation-wide in the United States and earned over $400,000 on rental.
Don worked in marketing and sales positions at Xerox Corporation for a few years.
