With great sadness we must report that veteran actor Don S. Davis passed away on June 29, 2008. He was 65 years old. [...]The following message was provided by Don's representative and his wife, Ruby Fleming-Davis:

Dear Fans and Friends of Don S. Davis,

So many of you have been touched by not only the work and art of Don S. Davis, but by the man himself, who always took the time to be with you at the appearances he loved, that it is with a tremendous sense of loss I must share with you that Don passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29th.

On behalf of his family and wife, Ruby, we thank you for your prayers and condolences. A family memorial where Don's ashes will be scattered in the ocean will take place in a few weeks, and should you wish to, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in Don's memory.

Don S.Davis is perhaps best know for his role as Major General George Hammond in Stargate SG-1

"General George S. Hammond: Doctor, are we entirely sure that the members of SG-1 are, what's the word?
    Dr. Janet Fraiser: Sane?
General George S. Hammond: That's the one!"

He has been a well loved actor to the Stargate fans and according to many sources he was a wonderful person. The world has indeed lost from the passing of this wonderful human being.

We salute you Don and hope you are doing well. Best wishes to the family.

Sad to hear that. He was an important part of the Stargate series and he appeared to be a good person.

    From http://rdanderson.com/:

IN MEMORIAM - DON S. DAVIS
    June 29, 2008

It is with deep sadness that the world learned of the passing on June 29th of Don S. Davis at the age of 65. Don's representative and his wife, Ruby Fleming-Davis, issued the following statement:

Dear Fans and Friends of Don S. Davis,

So many of you have been touched by not only the work and art of Don S. Davis, but by the man himself, who always took the time to be with you at the appearances he loved, that it is with a tremendous sense of loss I must share with you that Don passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29th.

Those in the Stargate community know Don S. Davis as General George Hammond. Don was an actor, a teacher, an artist, a mentor, and a good friend. We will miss his extraordinary talent, his gracious charm, his welcoming smile, his booming voice, and most of all his big heart.

Richard Dean Anderson said of his good friend, "I will forever FOREVER have the memory of that wonderful man, within. As I know will All."

    Godspeed, dear friend.
