Elias Koteas is a Canadian actor. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, on 11 March 1961. His father was a rail mechanic and his mother was a milliner. Koteas moved to New York and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1983. He also studied at the Actors Studio, where Fred Roos spotted him and cast him One Magic Christmas. His biggest film role to date is as Thomas Daggett, the lead in The Prophecy. He also played Casey Jones in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, and has been in Some Kind of Wonderful, Crash, Gattaca, The Thin Red Line, and Zodiac. His stage credits include Kiss of the Spider Woman, Death of a Salesman, Bent, and The Cherry Orchard. Along with the cast of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, he was nominated for a Best Acting Ensemble Critics Choice Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He won a Genie award in 2003 for his performance in Ararat.
