Believing Schiller murdered her husband, Marta seeks out Andrei and Luther to help kill Schiller during the gun exchange. Marta goes to Alexandra to talk about taking over Schiller's drug business. To win her back, Irwin does his best to convince Kat he will make up for the damage he's done.

Marta agrees to wear a wire to help build a case against Schiller. Schiller is amazed at Marta's business sense and as she dips in deeper to his business, she finds herself working with a woman who has a long history with Schiller.

Marta's plan to flee the country with her children is ruined when Irwin, released early, decides to expand the business via a deal with Schiller. Irwin and Andrei's seething tension comes to a head. Mike robs his own home to pay off his debts.

Marta needs to devise a plan to import an illegal drug shipment for Schiller as payment for her husband's debt. Quick thinking is called for when the smuggle hits a snag. As Boris starts to remember things about his father's murder, the FBI draw Marta's children into the investigation against her.

When stay-at-home Marta Walraven's marijuana exporting husband, Evan, is viciously killed in their driveway, her whole world changes. She has spent her whole life staying out of her father's organized crime world but things are about to change. With her primary concern being her children, she is reluctant to go against the "Bratva" (Russian mob) code when the FBI promises justice in exchange for her cooperation. As it turns out, Marta's brother, Irwin Petrov, and their best friend, Mike Tomlin, stole millions of dollars of cocaine from crime boss Nicholae Schiller. Even with Evan dead, the debt to Schiller is still not paid. Marta now has to figure how to find her way around the criminal underworld to repay this debt.

Believing she'll be free from Schiller's control, Marta agrees to import a shipment for him in exchange for his stolen drugs. In order to accomplish her task successfully, she asks Mike and her father to teach her the criminal business, which means finding a customs official to pay off. Andrei's bodyguard keeps watch over Marta's family while Kat helping out at Marta's house causes problems with her new husband. Wanting to know more, Natalie asks FBI Agent Ramos if her father was involved in illegal activities.

Jane and Maura investigate whether arson played any role in the death of a firefighter killed in a warehouse fire. Not too long after, a hit-and-run complicates the case. FBI Agent Gabriel Dean returns eager to renew his relationship with Jane.

When a performer's mother is killed at a dance competition, Jane and the rest of the team are called on to investigate. A police officer is shot and Korsak's stepson is the prime suspect.

Jane takes Maura to her high-school reunion but they end up working a case when a former classmate is found dead. Korsak's ex-wife pays him a visit while an old flame of Jane's returns.

After a young dockworker is killed, evidence surfaces that the mob has connections to dock operations, which brings up questions regarding involvement by Maura's biological father. Jane does everything she can to get out of sensitivity training. Meanwhile, Maura and Tommy start spending time together.
