  • Quotes

    • Ewan McGregor (on acting): As an actor there's nothing better than a great moody moment to play with nothing to say. It's so much easier to do because you can really get inside your head.

    • Ewan McGregor: I've found ways to cheat the ageing process. I shave my chest because having it hairy makes me look older.

    • (revealing that when he's home in Scotland, people can't resist having a go at him)
Ewan McGregor: Why do they feel the need to tell me, 'That film was sh*t'. It happens quite a lot. I was with my mum and daughter when this guy walks over to say, 'You're not as good as Alec Guinness' (Obi Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars films before Ewan). I felt really pissed off.

    • Ewan McGregor: On-screen nudity is something we take too lightly with young actresses. Getting 18-year-old girls to be naked and have sex in a movie is possibly damaging to their development. But, at the same time, I'm up for nudity.

    • Ewan McGregor: I've been waiting nearly twenty years to have my own light saber. Nothing's cooler than being a Jedi Knight.

    • Ewan McGregor: It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing.

    • Ewan McGregor: I won't buy into the Hollywood thing... I want to be in good movies.

    • Ewan McGregor: Isn't Halle Berry the most beautiful woman? I have a film I'd like to be in her with. I mean, I'd like to be with her in.

    • Ewan McGregor: I don't care about Oscars. It's such self-aggrandizing nonsense. It's a way to manipulate people into believing that their choices are what's good. It's rubbish. They're looking after themselves. I'll be fucking deliriously happy if I ever get one by the way. I'll go up there and cry and everything. But I don't value them, because I don't have one yet.

    • Ewan McGregor: I am a terrible actor. Every day I am amazed and I thank my lucky stars that I fooled you all this time.

    • Ewan McGregor: It's fantastic the way children ask you, 'How does the light saber turn on?, but I don't like it when the adults do that, because they should know better. I've had one adult ask me for advice on how to be a trainee to become a Jedi knight. I tell people like that: 'You want advice to be a Jedi trainee? Fuck off! That's my advice'.

    • Ewan McGregor: I'm just looking for that moment to drop my Jedi knickers and pull out my real light saber.

    • Ewan McGregor: I fight cynicism. It's too easy. It's really boring. It's much harder to be positive and see the wonder of everything. Cynicism is a bunch of people who aren't as talented as other people, knocking them because they make them feel even more untalented.

I loved this guy's acting ever since the Star Wars prequels and Robots. He's a very talented guy. He did great playing Rodney Copperbottom in Robots and The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and my all-time favorite: Revenge of the Sith. He also did great in other movies.
  • Although I didn't watch all of his appearances and movies, his roles in Moulin Rouge, Big Fish, and The Island were enough to rise him to my personal pantheon.

First off, what is there to say? How could I describe someone with so magnetic a presence? Something about Ewan McGregor just makes him perfect for the big screen... Is it his little smile, dazzling acting talents, or gorgeous voice (as seen in Moulin Rouge)? Somehow, he is the quintessential honest and fantastic young man every movie needs. From such movies as Big Fish and The Island, his innocence really was convincing, not like most of the "pretty boys" you see a lot today. It's not everyday you see a package deal- acting and singing, and that's what makes Ewan McGregor so special. So Ewan, if you're reading this... Keep up the good work!moreless
