Raspy-voiced Florence Stanley got her start on Broadway, making the transition to television in 1950. Her role as Bernice Fish, on both Barney Miller and its spin-off, Fish, brought Stanley to public attention. She continued to act on television, film and stage until her death in 2003 at age 79.
