Fredi Walker made her Broadway debut as the original Joanne in the Broadway musical RENT - she did reprise her role in the film because she felt she looked too old for the part. She was perfectly okay with not being in the movie as long as Joanne stayed black. Fredi was very pleased with Traci Thoms', Joanne in the movie, work and felt that she did the role justice. She went to the movie premiere and enjoyed it a lot. Fredi can be seen on the RENT DVD special feature "No Day But Today". Fredi also preformed in a RENT 10th Anniversary Benefit where then entire Original Broadway Cast came back for one special performance on 4/24/2006. Tickest cost $1000 and the event took place at the Nederlander Theatre.
