Gabrielle Union was born on October 29, 1972 in Omaha, Nebraska. When she was eight years old, her family moved to Pleasanton, California, where she grew up and attended high school. Union participated in several sports teams, such as soccer, basketball, and track. After high school, Union attended the University of Nebraska but eventually ended up at UCLA.
In college, Union began an internship at a LA modeling agency to pick up some easy credits, but the agency liked her so much they asked her to become a client. Union modeled until it was discovered that she could also act, and she had soon landed a role on UPN's Moesha.
Gabrielle has had several roles, albeit small, in many teen movies. Union always plays parts that are strong and opinionated.
When asked if she would rather act in a romantic comedy or an action film she replied, "I love romantic comedies. They're for me the easiest to do and the most natural to do. There's nothing natural about holding an uzi hanging out of a moving van shooting at people. That's not second nature to me, thank God."
Gabrielle is a graduate of UCLA with honors, in sociology.
