Gary Stretch is a British boxer who became more popular as a model in the early 1990's. This plumber's son was born on November 4, 1968 in St. Helens, Merseyside in England. He graduated from Cowley's High School in his hometown. As a boxer, Gary is a left-handed fighter. He eventually became the champion of the British light-middleweight division. His most famous fight was in 1991 with Chris Eubank whom he challenged for the WBO world middleweight championship in London. Billed as "Beauty V the Best", the fight was won by Eubank, albeit controversially. After this match, Gary had one more bout before retiring from boxing with a record of 23 wins and 2 losses. While he was boxing Gary was also working as a male model for fashion big wigs likes Calvin Klein and Versace. It was even said that he made more money in modeling than in boxing. After his retirement from boxing, Gary focused on his acting career. His first relevant character was as "Sonny" in the 2004 thriller movie "Dead Man's Shoes," for which he was nominated at the BIFA. He was further seen in "Alexander" in 2004 and "Freebird" in 2008. Gary was married to actress Roselyn Sanchez from 1998-2008. At age 31, he also had a brief romance with then 56-year old actress Raquel Welch.
