Picking up the morning after, Castle and Beckett now have to decide if they're a couple or was it just a onetime deal. But before they can tackle that, they must deal with those responsible for Kate's mother's death who are now a threat to Beckett.

Ray and Tammy's wedding day arrives, but their ceremony is interrupted when Mitch is kidnapped outside the church. While captive, Mitch hears his captors speaking in Russian and comes to the conclusion that the elaborate frame on Patrick Walker must be a part of the war against the Morolto family. Despite the danger his family is under, Joey insists Mitch honor their deal on the understanding that his family will protect them.

Tammy returns to town with the surprise announcement that she and Ray are getting married this coming weekend. Meanwhile, jury selection begins for for the Patrick Walker case and Joey struggles with acting as a witness to support Patrick's claim that he was framed. If Joey testifies, he might be exposed as a mob family leader and if he does not, Patrick faces a much stronger likelihood of being convicted.

Abby is back and agrees to join Mitch in getting Patrick Walker off so that they will finally be free of the Morolto family. Meanwhile, Patrick and Joey drop a bomb on Mitch: during his college years, Patrick was investigated for an incident very similar to the one he is accused of committing in the current case. Ray and Abby look into the backgrounds of the murder victim and Patrick's accuser from his college days.

Mitch takes the case of Joey Morolto's good friend and business adviser, Patrick Walker, who has been charged with murder. Joey is convinced his friend is innocent and tells Mitch that if he gets Patrick off, everything between their families will be square. Mitch takes the case in the hopes of finally putting everything behind him and his family. Meanwhile, Abby makes a deep realization about herself and helps her mother look into possible misappropriation of funds at the Community Center.

Beckett is on the hunt for the man who shot her which puts Castle in a precarious position. Soon everything will be out in the open and nothing will be the same for the 12th Precinct.

Castle's partnership with the police, courtesy of Castle's longtime friendship with the Mayor, is threatened when a murdered woman is found in a car from the Mayor's motor pool. The ensuing scandal could bring down Mayor Weldon's administration and with it Castle's partnership with Beckett.

Nucky tries to set up a risky liquor delivery to Philadelphia. Later, Attorney General Daugherty sees a problem that might complicate Nucky's case. Jimmy finds a new mentor in Leander Whitlock who is the Commodore's lawyer. Margaret finally goes to confessional. Lucy continues to struggle with loneliness while Van Alden tries to settle his conscience.

Russell hopes he won't have to worry about his father's approval after meeting Liz. Jeff ignores Audrey's feelings because he is hoping the guy's weekend will not get cancelled. Adam has new friend to drive crazy.

In order to solve the mysterious murders, Homicide asks for the help of Brother Sam, who Dexter knows used to be a serial killer. Debra has two proposals, one personal and one job-related.

Dexter uses his 20 year high school reunion as a chance to hunt the prom king. It's going fine until he is called to the scene of a vicious faith-based murder leaving him with questions about what he wants to pass on to Harrison. Debra who is finally in a good place with her relationship with Quinn and her job becomes an unexpected hero.

As Beckett fights for her life, Castle attempts to find the person responsible for the shooting. Meanwhile back at the precinct, Ryan and Esposito try to adapt to the new captain in charge.
