Geraint Wyn Davies
Geraint Wyn Davies was born in Swansea, Wales, on April 20, 1957 to a Welsh congregational preacher and a school teacher. At the age of seven, he and his family moved to Canada. He graduated from Upper Canada College, after which he entered the University of Western Ontario where for three months he studied business and economics before pursuing an acting career that has now continued, uninterrupted for more than 25 years. Though his professional… More stage debut was made in 1976 in Quebec City when he was 19 when he appeared in The Fantasticks, Red Emma, and A Midsummer's Night Dream, he was actually 12 when he was first bitten by the acting bug, appearing in a performance of Lord of the Flies. After Quebec, Geraint moved on to London's Centre Stage Theatre Company.



His impressive stage career includes performing for eight seasons in both the Shaw Festival and the Stratford Festival in Canada. Geraint gained a reputation as a gifted stage performer for his performances in such plays as The Music Cure, Candida, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Vortex, Goodnight Disgrace, Henry V, The Three Musketeers and even sang and danced in the Rogers and Hart musical The Boys from Syracuse. Other stage performances include My Fat Friend in Los Angeles and Sleuth with Patrick McNee in Toronto.



His stage career has spanned years and continents. In England, he continued his stage career with the British Actors Theatre Company where he played the lead in The Last Englishman. He then spent 2 seasons with Wales' leading theatre company, Theatre Clwyd, touring the United Kingdom in Enemy of the People and Hamlet. It was his performance in Hamlet that led to the Regional Theatre Best Actor Award. He then spent a season with the Chichester Festival doing Henry VIII.



In April of '96, Geraint appeared as Petruchio in a riotous version of Shakespeare's The Taming of The Shrew directed by Patrick Tucker of the Original Shakespeare Company. This three performance run was presented as Will's own players may have done - with sparse rehearsal, eclectic costuming, rotating roles and plenty of laughs.



In the Spring of '98, he appeared in the Moises Kaufmann production, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Gross Indecency earned the Garland Award for "Best Ensemble Cast" from Backstage West that year.



In August of '99, Geraint starred in a one man show written by Leon Pownall called An Evening with Dylan Thomas at the Atlantic Theatre Festival in Nova Scotia, Canada. The following summer he returned to the Atlantic Theatre Festival in the second of what would become Leon Pownall's Dylan Thomas Trilogy, Dylan Thomas and Shakespeare: In the Envy Of Some Greatness. August 2001 saw the completion of Pownall's trilogy with Stranger in Paradise.



The summer of 2002, Geraint returned to the Stratford Festival Theatre's main stage in My Fair Lady, starring as Henry Higgins, a role he shared with his good friend Colm Feore. He also reprised his role of Dylan Thomas at the Festival's Studio Theatre.



Geraint returned to the Atlantic Theatre Festival in August of 2003 to perform a one-act play Hughie by Eugene O'Neill. The evening was topped off by a hilarious presentation of The Sermon by David Mamet.



In 2004 he starred as Edmund in the Tony Award nominated production of King Lear opposite Christopher Plummer in Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre, NY. The same year he took on the title role in Barry Kornhauser's adaptation of Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac in Washington D.C., for which he was awared the Hellen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actor.



2005 has seen him return to NY to once again star as Dylan Thomas in Leon Pownall's Do Not Go Gentle.



In June 2000, Ger had the privilege of directing Oliver Mayer's Joy of the Desolate in Highland Park, IL.



He has also recorded two audio books of c gothic tales by E.A.Poe et. al., as well as a CD of his own music and he is currently working on another one. Geraint's musical talent was first brought to prominence on Forever Knight where he actually played the piano in the loft and co-wrote a song for the "Baby Baby" episode. As a result he was featured in one of the selections on the first Forever Knight CD.

    One of the best actors today hide show

    GWD is one of the best actors of his generation. Sadly, people only get to see the full range of his talent on the stage where he has built a steady reputation and proves his versatility in numerous different roles. He has already proven he can carry a show as the male lead (Forever Knight, Black Harbour)and it's sad to see that he often gets typecast as the villain in most of the TV work he does (although he makes a brilliant villain). It would be really great to have him as the lead in a show again that would enable him to explore a character's depth as opposed to small guest parts and two-minute appearances in movies.
    Besides being a great actor, he is also a very down-to-earth person, who is open and gracious towards his fans as I experienced on several occasions meeting him.

    Mr. Geraint Wyn Davies is a wonderful underrated actor. He is very versatile in the roles he does. hide show

    Mr Geraint Wyn Davies is an extremely nice person.
    He has always treated his fans with respect and kindness. He has donated time and things for charity and continues to do so. His first love is the stage and he is wonderful on it. He was excellent in My Fair Lady and should do more in that line.

    ger is so handsome and those blue eyes make me melt and his voice ......sets my heart a flutter.....he is all that and then some a talented actor.i would watch anything he was in......i was saddened that i missed the final episode as i was in the hospital hide show

    i have been a fan of the vampire cult since i was 5 yrs old, i first watched the soap operas "dark shadows" then anything that had to do with vampires, love bella lagosi and now i think the show "forever knight" was just the most interesting show "forever" theend
