On February 23, 1979 Geri married John Nimmons. The couple had two children together, James Joseph (J.J.) born in November of 1983 and Erin Nicole, born in December of 1986. The pair are now separated.
Geri was set to portray Blair Warner on The Facts of Life but signed a contract to appear in commercials for Crispy Wheat-n-Raisins while the pilot was in pre-production. Due to the fact that The Facts of Life was unable to reach an agreement so she could appear in the commercials as well as the television series, the role eventually went to Lisa Whelchel.
When Geri stepped in to replace Eve Plumb on The Brady Bunch Hour, her television father Robert Reed told her "Geri, it seems like you've been a part of our family the whole time. Like you started with us at the beginning or something."
Geri has never met Eve Plumb, the original Jan Brady, but expressed interest for "the two Jan's finally meeting!".
Geri was not approached to revive her role as Jan Brady for The Brady Brides.
Geri does not smoke or drink.
Geri wasn't able to watch her performance in the 1972 movie I Dismember Mama because of brief nudity and violent scenes. Geri finally got her chance to watch the film 28 years later, on video.
In 1974, Geri portrayed the role of Annie in the film I Dismember Mama.
Geri was one of three finalists for the role as Regan MacNeil in the 1973 film The Exorcist, until her mother withdrew her after a neighbor heard about it and dropped by their house with a copy of the book the film is based on.
In 1978, Geri graduated from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, California.

Geri has a fear of going in water over her head, causing dancing around the perimeter of a huge swimming pool on The Brady Bunch Hour uncomfortable for her.
