Gosho Aoyama

Aoyama-sensei has sold over 100 million copies of his manga Detective Conan. This is one of the greatest accomplishes many manga-ka seek to meet.

Aoyama-sensei's favorite food is rice with curry.

Aoyama-sensei designed the characters for the "Bakunetsu" chapter in Square's Super Famicom RPG, "Live-A-Live" video game.

Aoyama-sensei prefers mystery stories to sports stories, as he used to originally write sports manga.

In the Detective Conan manga, Aoyama-sensei has made references to other characters in some of his previous manga. Two of which include the character Kaitou Kid from Magic Kaito and brief appearances of the "T.V. Superhero" Yaiba from Yaiba.

Aoyama-sensei is immensely popular in Germany. His manga Detective Conan naturally is as well.

Aoyama-sensei has stated that the hardest thing to draw in his manga Detective Conan are the corpses.

Aoyama-sensei's favorite anime episode of Detective Conan is "The Moonlight Sonata Case".

His manga, Detective Conan has already reached it's ten year anniversary run in 2004. However, the animated version of the manga has only recently reached this milestone (2006). Aoyama-sensei has commented on it, "Even though that is a long time, to me... it feels like a blink of an eye."

When asked how he comes up with the ideas for crimes and cases in his manga, Detective Conan, Aoyama-sensei stated "The story lines arise in discussions with my editor. I get these ideas during situations of normal course of life, for example by going to bathroom".

Aoyama-sensei loves baseball. In his manga Detective Conan he shows this by including a number of different baseball stories, especially early on.

Aoyama-sensei's loves mystery novels. This is quite obvious as most of his works are of the mystery genre.

Aoyama's maiden work was a manga named Chotto Mattete, which was published in the weekly magazine Shonen Sunday on winter 1987. Shortly after that, Magic Kaito was published on the same magazine.

After finishing high school, he studied to Nihon University College of Art in Tokyo.

When Aoyama-sensei was in first grade, his painting of "Yukiai War" won a competition and was displayed at the Tottori Daimaru Department Store.

Aoyama-sensei's most popular manga, Meitantei Conan (or Detective Conan) is known as Case Closed in the U.S.
