Grant: You know what? I'm weird!
Grant: I own a house and a car. These are things I own. My companion animals are part of my family. They give me unconditional love and I give them room and board. I do not believe anyone can own a living thing. That is why I consider myself the guardian of my animal companions, never as their owner.
Grant: (on getting the part of Phillip Spaulding on "Guiding Light") I was very lucky. It all happened very quickly and I was thrilled. That was one of the best Christmases, 'cause I got hired right before Christmas. It was just heaven! I was tending bar, making 70 bucks a night and all of a sudden I'm making all this money to be an actor and it was like, 'God's in his heaven and all is right with the world!'
Grant: When you're the young leading man you get your share of panties, and naked pictures, and locks of hair and teeth. I've gotten everything in the mail... it's unbelievable. I had one woman in Canada that desperately wanted to know when we were going to see my bare or stocking feet on the show. And she sent me along pieces of paper to trace my feet on to send back to her, and I wrote back and said, 'If you should ever be unfortunate enough to actually see my feet, you would change your mind in a New York minute. The ugliest feet in daytime!'
Grant: Our animals are our children, and I've become obsessive-compulsive about leaving the house when they're there. I stand in the kitchen and stare at the knobs on the stove to make sure that they're turned off and that the toaster oven and the coffee machine are turned off. I'll literally go through the circuit of things that have to be turned off five times.
Grant: (on one day returning to "Guiding Light") I don't rule out anything. I make no pretensions about being able to predict the future. You can go nuts doing that.
Grant: I've worn my share of Speedos, so I don't want to wear them anymore. Besides, I agree with what talk-show host Montel Williams said: 'If you're over 26, no one wants to see it.'
