    • Gwen was nominated for 3 Emmys. In 1988, she was nominated for "Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series" for Magnum, P.I.. In 1993, she was nominated for "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series" for Homicide:Life on the Street. Also in 1993, she was nominated for "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series" for Dream On.

    • Gwen was nominated for 2 SAG Awards in 1997, for her movie Marvin's Room. The categories were "Outstanding Performance by a Cast" and "Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role".

    • Her mother, Gertrude, was a vaudevillian and dancer and her father, Joseph, was an MGM studio electrician.

    • She and Chita Rivera (her co-star from Chicago) remained friends until Gwen's death in 2000.

    • During the run of the Broadway musical Chicago, Gwen had to leave due to a throat infection that kept her hospitalized.
