Hailee: (On watching her friend, singer Taylor Swift, being sawed in half by magician Franz Harary) It was really amazing to watch. I was even invited up on the stage to take a close look at Taylor while she was in two pieces. Seeing things up close, it was obvious that he really had cut her in half, which was totally mind-blowing. I've no idea how he did it, but Taylor seemed quite happy to be in two halves. Afterwards, I had a long chat with Taylor about it, where she told me what it felt like and how much fun it was. Seeing Taylor cut in half like that and talking to her afterwards, I decided that I'd really like to have a go at being sawed in half someday. Sadly, I've yet to find anyone who'll do it for me.
Hailee: (on her role in the movie True Grit) The shooting of the guns, that was kind of funny, because rolling a cigarette and shooting a gun aren't like normal things for a 13-year old girl!
Hailee: (about being a child actor) Child actors come off as work being their life and doing it 24/7, but I still have those days where it's totally, like, whatever: shopping, movies, adventures.
Hailee: (on her preferring to do movies) I love the film route and I'm gong to try my hardest to stay on it.
Hailee: (on her getting to do what she loves, said when she was sixteen) I realize how fortunate I am to have found what I love so young. I've had some really incredible opportunities. ..I tend not to go much further than planning my day out. The future is so unpredictable. I don't have a specific place I want to be or know where I'm going to be five years from now.
Hailee: (on her experience filming the movie True Grit) ...I'd go back to set the next day and — you know, you go through hair and makeup, you go through wardrobe, and it's so amazing. ... I think it just grew on me so much, that I ... it was just like [Mattie's character] naturally became a part of me.
Hailee: (on her being on role during the filming of True Grit) I would go home at the end of the day and I don't know why, but that accent would stay with me.
Hailee: (on her role Mattie Ross in the movie True Grit) The stuff that comes out of this girl's mouth is stuff that you would never hear from a 14-year-old girl.
Hailee: (on her role Mattie Ross in the movie True Grit) The idea of revenge coming from a 14-year-old girl isn't, you know, exactly right.
Hailee: I love hats.
Hailee: There is no easy way of playing off when someone doesn't realize you put your hand out for a high five.
Hailee: I love good music.
Hailee: (on a song she wrong in 2013) A year ago I wrote and recorded a song called "Warrior" with my friends Chase Duddy, and Tim Myers....
Hailee: I have such mixed feelings about packing.
Hailee: I feel like when I'm eating cookie dough ice cream I'm like, mining for gold cause all I really want in there is the cookie dough.
Hailee: Family is everything.
Hailee: I think breakfast is my favorite part of the day. Or maybe dinner. Or lunch I haven't decided yet.
