Harrison has a scar on his chin as a result of a car accident he once had. Harrison lost control of his car while he was trying to put on his seat belt. Two movies starring Harrison have had the scar written into their films - in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom and The Last Crusade his scar is blamed on a whip mishap when Indie was younger, and in Working Girl the scar was a result of Harrison's character fainting and hitting his chin on the toiler.

Harrison wasn't the first choice actor for either Indiana Jones or Han Solo. As Han Solo he was given the part because George Lucas was impressed with his line reading after previously ruling him out for having worked with him on American Graffiti. Lucas didn't want to work with Harrison again in Indiana Jones but he offered Harrison the role after Tom Selleck declined it.

Harrison made about $22,000,000 for doing the 1997 film Air Force One. Harrison's reported salary for K-19 was 25 million US dollars.

Two of Harrison's films, Indiana Jones and Star Wars have spawned Disneyland rides.

Harrison's films in total have earned approximately 6 billion US dollars in box offices worldwide. This makes him the second highest box office earner of all time, just behind Tom Hanks.

Harrison nearly worked with director George Lucas again on Apocalypse Now when Lucas was in line to direct the picture. At one point during the writing process for Star Wars, Harrison's character Han Solo was supposed to be a reptillian creature.

Harrison is a private pilot, of a single engine fixed wing and a helicopter. He also owns a Bonanza, Gulfstream IV, DeHavland Beaver, and a Bell 407 helicopter. Harrison revealed on the Late Show with David Letterman (1993) that he has a few false teeth. Two were pulled by a dentist after some others were damaged when he fell on a gun during a stunt for a TV appearance early in his career.

His ex-wife, Melissa Mathison, wrote the screenplay for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982).
