  • Quotes

    • Hayden: (on her acting) There's a certain freedom I had when I was younger, and I didn't second-guess myself nearly as much, and I didn't listen to myself and criticize myself as much. It was just genuine the way it came out. And there was no worry about that. And as I've gotten older, I've had to try not to second-guess myself and go off instinct and trust myself more.

    • Hayden: (on Amanda Knox being set free) It's hard for me because I played her. I do feel like I have a certain connection with her. It's difficult for me to say that I'm not excited to see a young girl get a second chance at life and she does have a second chance, and I hope she makes the best of it.

    • Hayden: (on her breakup with boxer Wladimir Klitschko) Even though we've decided splitting up is best for both of us, we have an amazing amount of love and respect for each other and remain very close friends.

    • Hayden: (on getting fired for the first time at age three) I remember getting fired from a Life cereal commercial because I was flirting with the boy and kept eating the cereal when I wasn't supposed to. I was super young and they couldn't get me to stop eating the cereal, even when they asked.

    • Hayden: (on receiving the Gretchen Wyler Award for her work with animals) As an actress, you always dream of getting Emmys or Academy awards, but I never dreamed of getting an award that is this special and important to me as this.

    • Hayden: Heroes wasn't just a show, it was a massive, massive production that was ten months out of the year and definitely monopolized my life. At that period of time, it was probably a godsend for me. It kept me busy, kept me out of trouble. It was steady. It was a great place for me to be at that point in my life.

    • Hayden: (on Amanda Knox being released from prison in Italy) It's really surreal. Having played this girl and, if you will, having walked a mile in her shoes in a certain way, it would be very hard for me not to feel some sort of joy for a young girl to have a second chance at life, regardless of what happened. It's such a complicated case, and there are so many things that were just done really improperly. It's horrific. It's really horrifying, some of the things that they did. But I'm no expert, and I'm not in any position to say one way or another. But I will say that she's gotten a second chance at life, and I hope that she makes the best of it.

    • Hayden: (on her image) As I've gotten older, I've found myself paying a little more attention to it and second-guessing myself and questioning myself. You just have this freedom when you're younger - this lack of concern to fail or do anything wrong. It comes with an ease that I've found has kind of deteriorated over time. I have my moments where I feel really good about it, but it's all a mindset. If I'm thinking of it that way, then I'm tripping myself out.

    • Hayden: (on Wes Craven) Wes is amazing and you always expect a guy like that to be creepy. I mean it's like, if you met Stephen King you would expect him to be creepy. There's got to be some reason why their love in life is to terrify people, but [Wes is] amazing and he's such a sweet, sweet man and there's nothing creepy about him. And he's funny too!

    • Hayden: (when asked if she liked physical roles) I know! I do like action, I really, really enjoy action. I did sport activities when I was younger, was part of a team and stuff like that, but I always felt like stunts were my sport. So I am always drawn to things that are physical.

    • Hayden: (on playing Amanda Knox) That's what the interesting that I had a little bit of fun with. It was very interesting to play a character where you didn't know if she was guilty or innocent. My job was to be as innocent as I could be. That even through all of this. One of the interesting things about the story is that there are all of these facts and this and that prosecutors idea of what happened and what the media did to this girl.

    • Hayden: People look at me as sweet. I would never describe myself like that.

    • Hayden: In Hollywood, there is no such thing as being a nice girl. Or being, you know, not messed up.

    • Hayden: (on her father being arrested for spousal assault in August 2008, after he hit her mother a few times in the face) It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame. My family is wonderful and so very happy, we're all great.

    • Hayden: My parents are, like, down the street so when it's late at night and I don't feel like being by myself, I'll be like, "Hi dad," and he'll be like, "Just come on over".

    • Hayden: (after buying her own home) I still want a mom and dad to take care of me and do my laundry, because I can't do it. No, I'm kidding. I can do laundry!

    • Hayden: (on her debut album) There are very different, very diverse songs on the album. They're a little bit eclectic. I just wanted to make sure that the music didn't all sound the same. I have spent four years making this album and the music changed so much over the years, just because my life experiences and who I am as a person is obviously reflected in the music.

    • Hayden: (revealing she experimented with her sexuality growing up) It's great to be single. It's great to have boyfriends. Or girlfriends. There are occasions when you kiss your best friend growing up, having fun and goofing about. Like perfecting your technique.

    • Hayden: (revealing she's not bothered about speculation on her sexuality) It's fine with me. If I'm going to be linked with someone, I could have an affair with Angelina Jolie. Although Jessica Alba and Charlize Theron would be OK too. Kate Beckinsale is also gorgeous. There are so many beautiful girls!

    • Hayden: I have to be with someone who is very driven. When they're not, it becomes difficult. In a lot of relationships, you get in and spend every waking moment with that person. But I've figured out that the healthiest relationship is when you each have your own life, but you meet at a nice point in the middle. You want to have your life, and you want him to have his life. End of story.

    • Hayden: It's kind of insane when you're in the public eye. People feel like they have a right to judge you. But I'm like, you've never met me. You've never spoken to me. And when I read articles about me--how you read the words on paper is not always the way I said them. But I don't need to prove myself to anyone. I'm not that kind of person. It hurts my feelings when I feel disliked by people, because I'm not a generally dislikable person, you know? I think I'm a pretty decent, nice person.

    • Hayden: I've always had a mad addiction to salt. I've been known to pick the salt off of pretzels and eat it!

    • Hayden: (about her brother Jansen) He is a very balanced child. He has a heart of gold and would never wish bad on anyone. Sometimes I need to take a lesson from him. He keeps his cool really well. Watching him, because he is such a kid, you realize sometimes how down you are and for absolutely no reason. I guess it is just that it is very difficult for kids in this business. It is an adult world and people think kids should be seen and not heard, which is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard. People do not give kids the credit they deserve. Kids in this business work their butts off. Not only are they doing the job of acting, they are going to school every day.

    • Hayden: (about her commitments to the 'Save The Whales' campaign) I am going to continue to be involved and active until the problem is solved.

    • Hayden: (on her being famous) It's interesting. It's fun. It's a new thing. You know things are happening when you walk out of your apartment and there are two cars full of paparazzi who actually followed me home. It was sort of a scary feeling. I was by myself, I had a handful of things, and I said to one of them, "Oh, my God, you just scared me to death," and he was like, "I'm sorry." And, I turned to get in my car, and there was another person down the street who actually followed me all the way to work, and started running red lights. I was calling my parents, going, "Oh, my God! I don't know what to do!" I didn't know whether to be completely flattered, which I was, or kind of nervous about it.

    • Hayden: (about her role model) Angelina Jolie has always been my role model. She's a brilliant actresses she's played so many different types of roles. She's intelligent and a perfect example of a strong female. What she does for the world and the children and how she totally turned her life around is amazing.

    • Hayden: (talking about other teen stars like Hillary Duff, Olsen sisters and Lindsay Lohan) I think that they've got to do their own thing and I got to do mine. I want to be Hayden. I don't want to be them. I don't want people to think that I look like them, that I act like them, or that I dress like them. I am me and they're them. I want to be separate. I have met them and they have always been nothing but sweet to me and I adore them...but I want to be myself. I want to do things differently.

    • Hayden: Music has always been a passion of mine. I love music, more than anything. I really love music -- just listening to it.

    • Hayden: I cheered once! It was in middle school, such a long time ago. I was never really a cheerleader but I did do gymnastics, and cheerleading has a lot to do with gymnastics.

    • Hayden: (about 2007) This year has been all over the place. The Heroes hoopla was amazing, of course, but my boyfriend and I broke up after a year together, and believe it or not, I hear there's actually a Japanese arrest warrant with my name on it, just because I tried to stop dolphins from being hunted. Give me a break. And that goes double for TMZ--ooh, you caught [Heroes co-star] Milo Ventimiglia and me walking arm-in-arm after the Emmys. Big deal! Friends are allowed to do that, you know.

    • Hayden: (on the success of Heroes) It completely ruined my personal life. I mean, you walk out the door and you've got ten cameras in your face. Obviously everything in my life is on display whether it be true or false – 99 percent of it false.

    • Hayden: I think that, now more than ever, young girls need a good role model, My mom always says, 'You are the books you read and the people you surround yourself with.'

    • Hayden: Just because certain cultures have had long-standing traditions does not mean that in today's world they are acceptable any longer. The world and the environment are evolving and that means we must change our ways as human beings as well.

    • Hayden: A lot of people in this world will say they are involved in causes and organizations, but they don't actually do something. It was a great feeling to be there physically, making a difference.

    • Hayden: (If she had the power to transport herself anywhere, she would go to) I saw a picture of Tahiti today in a magazine and I was like, 'Dude! I need to be there right now!' They had huts in the middle of the water with room service. I would be so happy.

    • Hayden: Being an actress is in many ways my dream job, though it is harder than I thought it would be!

    • Hayden: (growing up in public is hard because...) You go on these internet blogs and people say the meanest things. I'm a normal person. Just because I'm in the spotlight doesn't mean I'm God's gift to the world. I'm learning and making mistakes just like every other 17-year-old girl out there.

    • Hayden: It's like the string around the finger where it's just a little reminder everyday when you look down at it and go, I like myself. I want to be around. I want to keep myself safe.

    • Hayden: (when asked about working with big name actors like Nicole Kidman and Hilary Swank) It is really cool. They don't act famous, they're nice, normal people. During the filming of Titans, I'd race on the field with Denzel, passing a football. He likes to kid around.

She is good in one thing only, "Remember the Titans". Can't sing either.
  • Actually she's one of the best tv actress...and my wife :D
