Iman was ranked #14 in Glamour's The 50 most glamorous women of '08.

While a student at the University of Nairobi, Iman worked as a translator to help pay her tuition costs.

Iman performs the role of one of the characters in the computer game Omikron - The Nomad Soul.

Iman has appeared on the cover of over twenty magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Essence, and Vogue.

Fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell says that Iman inspired her to become a model.

Iman prefers vanilla to chocolate.

She has a cousin named Waris Dirie who is also a Somali supermodel as well as a UN advocat.

Iman is a citizen of the United States, as well as her native country Somalia.

Photographer Peter Beard discovered Iman while she was a student at Nairobi University in 1975.

Iman's favorite TV shows are America's Next Top Model, Oprah, The Tyra Banks Show, and CNN. Her favorite movies are Black Hawk Down and Beloved.

Iman wrote her autobiography, titled I Am Iman.

Iman studied political science, and she says that if she hadn't become a model and entrepreneur, she would have liked to have been a diplomat like her father.

Iman is 5'8 1/2" tall, with black hair and dark brown eyes.

Iman has been married twice. She married pro basketball player Spencer Haywood in 1977, and they had one daughter, Zulekha Haywood in 1978. They divorced in 1987, and in 1992 she married British rock star and actor David Bowie. They have a daughter together named Alexandria Zahra Jones, born August 15, 2000.

Iman speaks five languages fluently: Arabic, English, French, Italian, and Somali.

Iman has two brothers and two sisters.

Iman is the international spokesperson for the charity Keep A Child Alive, which provides drugs to HIV/AIDS children and families in Africa and India. She also supports the charities Mother's Voices, Action Against Hunger, The Children's Defense Fund, and The All Children Foundation.

Iman's name is the Arabic word for "faith". It's commonly used as a girl's name in Arabic countries and a boy's name in Persian. Iman's mother, a gynecologist, gave her daughter the name in spite of the fact that in Somalia is was usually given to boys, with the hope that this would better prepare her for the challenges she would face as a female in Muslim East Africa.

When asked her favorite singer, Iman unsurprisingly named David Bowie, who is her husband. But the first concert she attended was in her native country of Somalia, with local artists performing. Some of her other favorite artists are Alicia Keys, Al Green, Donny Hathaway, Maryan Mursal, and Ahemd Ali Egal.

Iman's favorite fashion designer is Galliano.

When asked which part of her body is her favorite, the supermodel replied that it was her waist. But she never reveals which part of her body is her least favorite.

Iman has gone skydiving twice, and bungee jumped five times.
