She has the wonderful ability to play a character which you deteste so much, for example Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix or the mean nurse in the Singing Detective, but at the end of the production you can't help but liking imelda herself! I recently saw her on stage in Entertaining Mr Sloane, Trafalgar Studios along with Matt Horne (Gavin and Stacey). She was brilliant, she had the audience's full attention and managed to keep a straight face and fully composed in some of the most difficult and embarrassing scenes. She won a well deserved Oscar (for best actress) for her phenomanal performance in Mike Leigh's Vera Drake, this was some of the best acting I have seen in my life she created the atmosphere and emotional intensity.
Her performance in Harry Potter was simply one of the best I have ever seen. She simply made me hate her character so much, just as it was intended. She was really great.
