On the show Jane by Design, India gets to use her real first name. Theoriginalcharacter's name was to be Amy Tanaka but producer Gavin Polone didn't think India looked like an "Amy" and liked the sound of her real name.

India: (on Jane By Design) I think what really attracted me to the show was the dialogue. You read so many scripts, and the scripts for Jane felt easy. The flow was right. The writing felt different from so many scripts that I've read. I was really attracted to playing a character that I knew I wouldn't have trouble getting the lines out.
