He is married to award winning screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson who wrote Secretary starring Maggie Gyllenhall and James Spader and the up-and-coming Fur starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. They have a two year old son and live in New York, Los Angeles and Providence, RI, where Ms. Wilson also teaches at Brown University.
Mr. MacKenzie stars in the up-and-coming The Return starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, produced by Focus Features and scheduled for release in September of 2006. Mr. MacKenzie also stars in the Lifetime movie Gospel Of Deceit which will air in April around Easter.
He has just completed his second film for directing legend Martin Scorsese. The film is The Departed; it is scheduled for release in December of 2006. Mr. MacKenzie played Cate Blanchett's ex-husband "Ludlow Ogden Smith" in Scorsese's The Aviator which won the Golden Globe for best picture and five Academy awards in 2004.
Mr. MacKenzie Starred as "Arnold Spivak" in the award winning Steven Bochco Series Murder One which ran for two seasons on ABC from '95-'97. Three years later he was hired to star opposite Jessica Alba in James Cameron's Dark Angel which ran on FOX for two years from 2000-2002 and won the People's Choice Award in 2001.
He has performed at many of the major theatres across Canada including the Shaw Festival, Canadian Stage, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Royal Alex, Theatre Plus and Toronto Free Theatre.
